Eno Research Chemicals and Custom Synthesis

Founded in response to a growing need for custom synthesis, Eno Research Chemicals and Custom Synthesis (ERCCS) is the chemistry division of Eno Research and Consulting Services, LLC (ERCS).  ERCCS is a contract chemistry division serving the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.   Our director, Dr. James Springer, has over fifteen years of experience with multistep organic syntheses of small molecules including alkylating cancer drugs, heterocycles, carbohydrates, small to medium peptides and chiral intermediates.  In addition, we offer an extensive and growing catalog of fine chemicals related to cyclophosphamide/ifosfamide research that are not readily available elsewhere.

ERCCS can provide timely, high quality chemistry and process research services for complex synthetic organic chemistry projects which are both innovative and reliable to the global chemical community at large.  We can provide leadership and assistance in a wide range of areas including Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) projects, synthetic endeavors, lead development and optimization, in-vitro and in-vivo product testing, pharmacokinetics and more.  If your project requirements exceed our in-house capacity, ERCCS can provide assistance with vendor sourcing and technology transfer.

Our fully equipped facilities are located in Hillsborough, North Carolina near three major universities, allowing us access to library and high field NMR services. Suitable for sub milligram to multi kilogram scale projects, it includes 5000 square feet of laboratory, manufacturing and office space and a class II clean room space used for special projects.  Services we offer include:

  • Custom Organic Synthesis:  ERCCS can provide a custom synthesis of almost any organic compound including reference compounds, drug intermediates or metabolites, drug analogs, isotopically labeled compounds, and chiral synthons/building blocks .  The customer provides literature methods or their own synthetic route in which all experimental details (reaction times, temperatures, solvents, concentrations, purification methods, yields, and analytical data) are described.  The more information is given, the shorter the synthesis time and the lower the price.  Custom Organic Synthesis requests will be reviewed promptly and we will determine whether or not to accept the project.  Once accepted, the customer will be provided with a quote detailing the project’s cost and projected delivery time.  If the quote is accepted by the customer, the custom synthesis will be initiated immediately upon receipt of payment.  If the customer makes significant changes to a project once it has been initiated, ERCCS reserves the right to make adjustments to the project’s cost and/or delivery time.  Due to the unpredictable nature of synthetic chemistry, ERCCS cannot guarantee the target compound will be provided, but we enjoy a 100% success rate to date.  In the unlikely event we cannot provide the target compound, there will be no charge for the labor spent on the project and the customer will be billed only for the costs of the materials used.

  • Contract synthesis/Research:  Contract synthesis/Research is initiated when literature methods are limited or unavailable and/or when a viable synthetic route has not been elucidated.  ERCCS will conduct an exhaustive literature search of target compounds and pertinent synthetic methods and design the most efficient synthetic route to the target compounds.  Preliminary synthetic work may be undertaken to determine feasibility.  The customer may choose at this time whether or not to pursue the project.  If the customer chooses not to pursue the project, a nominal consulting fee may be charged.  If ERCCS and the customer mutually agree to pursue a project, a synthesis/research contract must be signed by both parties.  Samples of all intermediate products will be made available upon request as well as all available analytical and characterization data.  Progress reports will be submitted at intervals to be agreed upon by both parties (typically weekly or monthly).  As with our Custom Organic Synthesis, ERCCS cannot guarantee that our contract research will produce the desired products or results.  The customer can decide at any time to terminate work on the project.  A final report will be generated upon the completion or termination of the project.  The report will include all research conducted up to the completion/termination date (literature research, synthetic methods, etc.) as well as the total cost associated with the project, regardless of the result.

How to get started:  Please contact us with your custom synthesis and contract research needs and we will submit a detailed quote to you as soon as possible; usually within 48 hours.  The quote will include an estimated price and timeline for the project.  All inquiries and subsequent projects are accepted in the strictest confidence and will be backed up by confidentiality agreements if required.
